I am putting an Allis B engine together and am ready to "wire" the main bearing bolts. What quality/type/strength wire should be used? Would ordinary tie wire be okay? I understand the technique used and that is used extensively in the aircraft field. Merry Christmas to all Arkansas Bill

Steve and M. J. T. Thanks for the response. It is really neat (for an old grease monkey wannabe like me working on an ancient machine) to be able to find answers to questions so quickly. Thank you and Merry Christmas,
Bill

I Used Stainless Steel Tie wire, Largest Diameter That Would Fit. It is Very Important To Get It Tight so it does not flip flop around as the crankshaft spins.

regular soft bailing wire is adequate. dont want it too hard where is cracks and breaks under vibration. as MT said, twist it snug so it dont rattle. you know the lay of the warap is important. as the bolt trys to loosen it should tighten the wire, not get any extra play.
