Today I went and looked at a WC and the tractor had been setting since last spring. The guy said that it had ran great last year. But now one of the tires has gone flat and dead battery. So I was unable to here it run. However when I pulled the dip stick it was milky and quite a bit above the full mark. I checked the raidator to see if that was low but it was right up there (good color too, not brown). Is it possible that this could be condesation built up? in the oil. This is in CT. if the weather matters. Also what sould I offer him for a price? Thanks for the help!
Andrew

How good did the color look in the radiator? Your description sounds to me like the oil has more than condensation, yes it could be rainwater. But to me the big question is how full and how good was the color in the radiator? It could have been put in not long before you got there.

I recently bought a AC real cheap cause milky oil and ran ruff, When I got it home I found that it had a poorly fitted round bottom muffler that let all water in. Changed to right muffler and rebuilt carb and now the little machine has a attitude and I like it.Here in IN AC are not easy to find and most folks that have them are right proud of them

Could be the exhaust wasn't covered and it got full of rainwater..... other than that, a non-running tractor ain't worth much....no way to tell what works and what needs fixin.

How much is the tractor worth? I really don't know. All tractors were running the last time they were used and parked. If the engine was running last year and stuck, it shouldn't be stuck tight. Guess, well under $500.00 in not running condition. I would start the bidding at $200.00 and see what the seller counters with. In mid Missouri a good running WD with solid rims and fair rubber can be had for $800.--.

The only way to know is to drain the oil. If the radiator is holding water and if there is a seep/leak - isn't very big. A small seep around the piston liner o rings should seal up with a good block sealer available from the auto parts store.

Why do you want this tractor? If you want a work tractor, look at the WD series. For a few dollars more you get live hydraulics, live pto, and inexpensive 3-point conversion.

Location, south central Missouri. $800- for a WD is about right for this area. Paid $800- for a nice running WD, good tires, etc, at auction about 1 1/2 years ago. You will see WD's advertised from dealers in the $1100.00 - $1200.00 range.

Purchased a WD from a guy near Fulton 3 years ago for $1600-. Tractor had a recent paint job, new decal set, decent tires, strong motor, and an aftermarket 3-point. For the $1600- I purchased the tractor, bush hog, blade, and crane.

Having said that, I have also purchased a 37 WC parts tractor, and a bunch of extra parts for $400- in central Iowa. I needed the flat topped fenders and a good radiator for an unstyled WC. And I paid $250.00 for a pair of spoked rims for an unstyled WC.

Do you want a WD or a WC? You were asking about a WC, which I thought go for under 1000. A WD is a different story. I paid 700.00 for mine a few years back(WC), smokes, narrow front wobble when driving to the gas station, 12 volt, foot brakes.

Thanks for all the replys, I called the guy and he said that he was going to get it running once it got a little warmer. "It's in the mid teens here in CT". The coolant was a nice green and did not looked to have been added to lately. And now that some guys have mentioned the muffler, I recall that it was seriously bent and heavy rust had built up. Thanks for the help I'll yet you all, know how it goes. Andrew
