Hello fellow Allis Fans, tractor collectors,A dear friend of mine, Burt, has an Allis Chalmers "WKO" diesel ag crawler. he"s been approached about selling it but does not know what a fair price is for it. He used it in his dryland grain farming operations. Unique tractor - in addition to std. diesel fuel injection system, it also has a magneto and special spark plugs. Burt shared with me that rather than rely solely on compression to ignite the diesel fuel sprayed into the cylinder via the injectors, Allis Chalmers designed these crawler engines with a magneto to ignite the diesel fuel in a more uniform, smoother, ideal ignition timing vs. relying only on compression and diesel injection timing. This is all factory-installed equipment and Burt is the original owner, has the dealer paperwork and manuals to go with it. Starting the tractor - Starter motor turns over engine while the operator accuates a very small "charge" of gas that is injected with the diesel fuel, the spark plugs ignite the gas / diesel mixture, then the engine runs on diesel fuel, being spark-ignited / assisted? by the magneto.
