AC B starting

I have a '39 B that started fairly well, set for about 1-1/2 years and now won't start without lots of cranking and then maybe having to pull it off. The entire electrical system consists of the 4 spark plug wires and magneto as it came new. I suspect the timing is off but can't find the timing mark on the flywheel like the manuals say. The manual said to look in the clutch hole but all I saw was pressure plate. There are a couple other holes but I didn't find any marks here either. The carb seems fine, ether doesn't help, new plugs, and I have a pretty fair spark from the plug wires. It runs good when I get it going. Any help with where I can find the marks or get this B to start better while my blisters are healing?

When a piece of equipment sits for a long time, the points become resistive , in other words, not a good solid ground contact when they make to ground. Get a point file and lightly file those contacts and you will surprised at what a hotter spark you get and it makes starting much easier.

I had the same problem. The carb was the culprit. A rebuild solved all.

I have an ac "B" that was working fine then it got near 100 degrees out. I ran the fuel line thru a coffee can with ice in it and that worked. Now it will start and run fine for a few minutes then die suddenly. I played around with the float but it still won't run right. Any ideas?
