I am looking to buy a AC D15 tractor. The tractor appears in good mechanical condition. The tires are fairly good and the paint and sheet metal are very good being just a little faded. I was wondering if anyone knows about what a good D15 would bring and also is there any common promblems with the D15 I should look for. It had a diesel engine series II, but has been changed out with a gas D15 engine. The tractor is located in Tennessee. Thanks

Yeah the D15 would bring at least 1000 dollars here in Virginia and the moast you would probably pay should be about 2500 if a dealership doesnt own it. If not just find the book price on it.

I have a D 15 and I feel that it is underpowered. It starts right up, but just doesn't seem to have much in the way of go power under a load.

There is one for sale in a local paper in mid-Missouri for $3995 (dealership). That is usually about what they go for around here, in the condition you describe.

As far as things to look for, I know that you should make sure the transmission doesn't jump out of gear. They have a constant-mesh tranny, and people were bad to grind them into gear. I have heard 3rd was usually what went out first, but I would be sure and put it under a decent load in each gear (uphill and downhill) before I did anything else.

As far as going from diesel to gas, it could be considered an improvement. The gassers had a little more power, and unless the diesel was in good shape - with a new or rebuilt injector pump -the gasser will undoubtedly start better, no matter the weather. Hope this helps.

Good luck,
Dale
