I finally got my starter off and all I need is thething that sticks out of the starter which the switch contacts. The old one is pretty well gone on one side, and the copper plating's about gone. I need to know what the thing I need is called. Thanks A LOT! RC

tHE PART YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS PART OF THE STARTER SWITCH. There are 2 different types, one has a copper strip about 3/4 " wide and 3 inches long made out of thick copper bolt hole in one end and a raised bump on the other. If it is that one my dealer just told me that starter is no longer available and the switch cannot be purchased either. It is also the type I have, I am going to figure out a way to hook an electric solenoid to it rather than replace the starter. If you have the other starter the switch costs $20 Good luck. don

CHAPTER 2 : THE STARTER MADE BY AUTOLITE IS THE ONE YOU CANT GET PARTS FOR.
ALSO A COPPER PIPE FLATTENED OUT WOULDNT WORK, BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE TOO PRECISE IN ORDER FOR THE SWITCH TO BE ABLE TO WORK. I also told you I have the same starter, I live near Lancaster Pa. and we are fortunate enough to have a starter generator repair shop nearby where they are known locally as able to preform miracles. I am going there tomorrow Friday, and they assure me that they have parts (used) to repair my starter. If you contact me before then at POGUE1321@AOL.COM Perhaps I can get you what you need , or make arangements for them to ship to you. . D Dixon
