can someone email me information on the above mentioned tractor.
like known faults, price guide (has front end loader), and anything else
you think important about it. It's a sharp looking tractor, has new shoes and
fresh "duds".

Thanks.

Charles,
Long time no hear from you but the 170 sounds great. I have little to offer unless its a diesel. The diesel uses the same engine as Big Al (the AC 816 Backhoe). I have run this solid now for several years and even in winter it fires right off. Plenty of power even though the 816 has just a bit more weight than the 170. The Perkins 4.248 on Al is the same block as the 4.236 on the 170/175. On late models they even used the 248. Hope you get it and wish I had it.

charles, the tractor in question is in my opinion a good tractor to own. its an updated verstion of the old d-17 series IV. it has basically the same powertrain with the newer sheetmetal. it sounds like you found a nice one, but the rubber and paint dont makem run good.
you need to check the engine oil pressure, the power director clutch to make sure it snaps in both low and high well, and make sure the brakes are in good shape. unless it has a ton of hours on it, the transimission and differential should be fine as a rule. the price is different in different parts of the country, but if i had one to sell with a factory loader, it would cost in the neibhorhood of five to six thousand dollars and might go for more in other locations. good luck, grapeape
