Was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why my wd keeps breaking the weights off the govenor. I just bought the tractor with a bad govenor, and repaced the wieghts and ran for couple days here and there, then today I decided to run wide open and the rpm"s built a little slow then the tractor ran wide open, I took it apart again and all the weights are broke off again. Any suggestions. Thanks

the weights very possibly be hitting the case or block housing.youre lucky if its not busting the gear.the weights shouldnt bust till rpm are around2600

I think BCnT's answer is reasonable. I can't think of anything else. The rpm should be limited to 1600.

usually a governed engine has a pre set top RPM...sounds like somebody pumped the rev's up some and the weights arent designed for that much centrifugal force...in other words...the faster the weights spin...the heavier they get.
