I'm trying to replace the seals in a 35 WC. I've got a manual and it says, remove wheel, bull gear, back plate, etc. Then it says, in order to remove the shaft going into the rear end pumpkin, remove brake housing cover, loosen brake band adjust nut and nut from pinion shaft gear. Remove gear and I should be able to pry the shaft out with a pry bar between the brake drum and housing. I don't see how this will come off that way. The brake drum is a lot larger than the bearing on the shaft. Has anyone taken these out before? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Tony

Use a Timken 1974 seal. The National seal is not available at auto supply houses. AGCO may supply them from old stock, but they will be expensive. The Timken seal is $4.

I did get it out. There is a larger plate that comes off with the shaft and bearing. I didn't see it until I cleaned the old gasket off and had to use some heat to persuade it.

Thanks.
