by now you probably know it is a neg gnd system, and fyi, if you want, a gm alternator, can replace the generator, and replace the battery w/a 12volt. the 6volt starter will handle the 12volts just fine!

positively a positive ground, but if you convert to an alternator you must reverse the polarity

Thanks for the feedback. That's the way I have it, but the battery was removed for quite a while, and I thought perhaps that was the starter problem. Can't get it to turn over. Will keep on the hunt...
