Just purchased a AC 7030 that the power director slipps a little when shifted in to high range in 5th gear not real bad but still noticeable till catches up with engine rpms. If the power director was bad wouldnt it slip all the time? I wont get to put much load behind it till spring. It seems to pull steep hills in high gear with out slipping. Could I just have a low oil pressure somewhere? Thanks for any help.

there is a torque limiter on the flywheel {a clutch disc that never disengages] they are prone to slip. the rear main seals like to leak the power director front seals leak also. you have to split it to fix it either way but check the limiter before the p.d. I have also seen the splines on the p.d. hub start to strip but they wont last long if they are starting to go. when you put the limiter in get a new oil seal kit to go over the limiter.

Does it do it only when cold or hot? Also, does the pressure below 1800 rpms light come on on the dash when it does this? It sounds like the seals in the high clutch pack are going out, not the clutches. Go to the allis chalmers unofficial allis board. There are quite a few people over there that have had these apart. it is www(dot)allischalmers(dot)com.
