I stopped by an AC 200 the other day. It was parked by the road with a for sale sign. Couldn't catch the owner home, no key in it so I didn't start it. The tractor has a decent factory cab and looks good. The seller wants $5500 for it. Appears to be in decent shape except maybe could use new tires. I know very little about AC tractors. What's the good, bad and ugly on the 200? The book says they are 106HP. They look a little light built for 106 HP, especially the front end. I suppose it would be OK if a person just treated it like an 80 HP tractor. Do they have independent PTO and live hydraulics? How are they on fuel usage?

bought one at an auction last summer and like it so far. It had a factory cab, an Allis loader and two new back tires on it for 7100.00 Canadian money. It had 3900 hours on it, starts easy, nice to drive, shifting is a bit tricky until you get onto it. Had a bit of a power problem last week when I put it on a cultivator but a partly plugged valve off the fuel tank was the problem and easy to clear up. The air conditioning is now working, all lights ect.

Thanks for your responses. I hadn't thought of looking back through the archives. Sounds like they are a decent tractor.

The factory hp is 93.4. They are good tractors and will normally produce more hp than rated at. The 200 is and improved 190XT. It has live pto when using the power director. Using the engine clutch, the pto stops. The 301 cu in turbo diesel is not bad on fuel.
$5500 for one in good condition is a good price.

I just bought one myself. I needed about 80 HP with a cab, and this was what I found. With a fresh engine, new tires, and not a dent anywhere, always shedded, it cost me 7500. I am not a farmer. My brother in law is, and he is a JD man. He has been overly impressed with both the power and fuel mileage of the tractor. The trans is a touch sticky because the gears are straight cut (stronger). It starts at a touch. If you look back thru here you can find many references to them. We love this one.
