CAN ANYONE TELL HOW TO TROUBLE SHOOT MY GENERATOR. I HAVE TRIED GROUNDING THE FIELD TERMINAL OF THE GENERATOR WITH IT ON THE TRACTOR WITH NO RESULTS. I HAVE TESTED CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE FIELD AND ARMATURE TERMINALS, AND THERE WAS A COMPLETED CIRCUIT THERE WITH NO RESISTANCE.

Bob, generators are not hard to fix. To begin, take the belt off so the pulley can spin freely. With a piece of 10 gauge or heavier wire short across the cutout relay. This should make the generator spin like a motor. If it doesn't, make sure you have power to the cutout. If you do, look inside the generator for worn brushes, broken wires or heat damage. If the generator did spin, the cutout is bad. One thing to remember is in order for 6 volts to start the engine, 1 gauge cables must be used. If the battery cables are any smaller, it never will start right. It will seem like the battery is always run down. Hope this helps. Brian
