I really like my '49 B but I wish there was a practical way of slowing it down. I only use 1st gear on my 5 acre mini-ranch, but it runs way too fast for most of my projects! Just had to register my only complaint.... :), Chuck

That is a complex undertaking there. I honestly pull back on the throttle at times to brake on a straight, but that also slows down the PTO for mowing too. But it looks good enough for me, and I guess that's why they went out and bought a garden tractor, because good enough for me aint good enough for them. Now after I tuned it up, my sister showed me that it ran good enough that it'd cut on a hill in 3rd gear, and even that cut wasn't good enough for me...but she did knock out a couple acres faster and was doing circles around me going much slower on a much larger Deere using a rougher cutting bushog. At least I was cutting something.

I know of one guy who rebuilds B/Cs with mowers. Puts on much smaller rims and tires- front and back. Rears are maybe 20 inch truck rims- centers would be easy to redrill the right bolt pattern. Don't know if he cuts off the front spindle, but a wide front would be easy to lower.
