I posted a picture on the Help Identify section of yesterdays tractors. Everybody says they look odd from all the other Allis B"s. Let me know what you think.

Where your clamps came from or when they were produced but the 1938 clamps were designed to fit over the rim tabs as in the pictures below.

YOU HAVE A 38 B. THAT IS THE ORIGINAL STYLE RIM AND CLAMP USED THAT YEAR ONLY. MOST OF THOSE STYLE RIMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH THE NEWER STYLE.

Must be more that one style of clamps for the 1938"s. I have three 1938"s and the difference between the 38"s and the 39"s I have is the bolt size. The 38"s have the 3/4" hole in the clamp and hub. The 39"s have a 5/8" hole thru the clamp and hub.

More pictures to take. I have a set of the 38 rims with the four tabs that stick up.

Hi,

It looks like one of the early styles of rim clamps, together with an early style (probably original) rim. The B/C parts book indicates five different part numbers for rim clamps, both with and without the cam feature. Ten different part numbers total, depending on tractor serial number. From the looks of your picture:

I'd say you had these, special rim included:

Take good care of those (both rims and clamps). you are unlikely to get more - certainly not new identical replacements. The later clamps will not work with those rims and the later rims will not work with those clamps.

odd Looks as if clamp sits in hollow on rim instead of on raised area.

I tried adding a picture to help identify again. It looks like it worked this time.

I have over a dozen sets of rears for the B"s and C"s and I have nothing that looks like those. I will be interested in what you find out about them.

it is hard to tell from the photo, but they look normal. the cast hub has 4 holes in it 90 degrees apart. the rim has either a raised loop around the circumference, or 4 raised areas on the rim. the 4 clamps are half moon shaped and two of them have off center cam bolts so they can be rotated and wedged out aginst the rim. your look normal from here.
