Tip On Checking Plugs in reply to Al Bramley, 09-26-2006 07:44:18
You can lay a screw driver bit from the end of the plug to the block and the plug that gives you no change is the one not firing. Then you can pull the plug wire off the plug and hold it about 1/8" away from the end of the plug to watch the spark. If you have spark and a bad plug the miss will go away. Tuch the wire to the plug and the miss comes back and then pull it back and the miss goes away again, it is then a bad plug. Old timers test from way before my time and it was shown to me in the 1950"s.

First thing you need to do is find out which cylinder isn't fireing then check the plug/spark. If it has good spark on that plug then you need to check compression. It might have a stuck valve, burnt valve, or even a blown head gasket in the area . Now if it doesn't have spark you might try moveing the plug to another cylinder and see if that cylinder stops fireing if it does then you know you have a bad plug if it doesn't follow then maybe a plug wire, or cap and maybe even a disturbutor problem
