Im trying to get some more power out of my Allis B.(used for pulling) I rebuilt the engine last year and put in the over-sized pistons in. I presently have 11.2"s on it and what to go to 12.4"s I was wondering where I could get more power out of it? Deck the head, carb work etc? I dont think I need alot more, it runs real strong but I think that big rubber might slow it up some. Thanks for the Help Andrew

You can pick up some by grinding some off the head. I have two of those engines with the pistons above the top of the block. The shape of the firing chamber that is. I have done a bunch of different things with all the different parts. I have two heads with .200 off and six or so out here with .100 removed. I have one with small block Chevy valves in but the firing chamber had to be opened up slightly larger than the piston and the sealing ring on the head gasket was exposed enough for it to act like a glow plug and pre ignited. I have sliced a head up with a band saw to see what I could get away with. If you take .100 off the head you will get a change in the sound of the exhast. Compression = HP. third party image

I bored down into the firing chamber to see what I had to work with also.
