Hey AC guys, a litle help please. Never been an Allis man, nothing against them just never owned one. A 1959 gas d17 has gotten my attention. What do I need to look for other than the obvious, usual things you'd look for? Any history of transmission, clutch, lift, engine, etc. problems? It does not have a 3pt. Thanks.

If you can't try it out under load, stand on the brakes in low and high range on the Power Director (hand clutch), various gears. Handle should have a definate snap to it- otherwise it needs adjusting or new clutch discs. New discs mean a split.

You need to drive it up and down some steep grades. Occasionally one will have a tendency to pop put of gear either under load or on slowing down.
