if the total width of the tractor outside to outside the rear tires is about 56 inches you have a B. if it is closer to 70 inches you probably have a C. the rear alxe housing has two big lugs (threaded holes) on the C to mount a cultivator frame, no rome for that on a B.---- the B steering box arm below the gas tank points down on a B and up on a C.----- the steering rod to the front end goes to the left wheel on a B, and under the radiator to a gear box on the C.--- ALL B tractors are wide front end, MOST but not all C tractors are narrow front end. --- Both tractors have the same radiator, hood, tank, motor ,seat, transmission, rims, tires, and pto housing.

Actually the C may have one of three different frontends; adjustable wide front, narrow front, or single front wheel. I have one of each. C's never had the non-adjustable arched wide front like is common on most B's, but when it comes to B,C,& CA tractors there have been a bunch of mix & match assemblies of parts during the past 70 years,so you can find some interesting combinations.

Most C will have a trike front end, shoot I have never ran across a C yet that didn't have a trike front end, not saying there isn't any with wide front but the trike is more common. Best way of course is to look at the serail number which is just in front of the shifter. The B serail number satrts with B and the C with a C.

Also steering arm goes up on a C but points down on a B. B came with only wide front end (either fixed or adjustable) while C came with either narrow front or adjustable wide front.

C's have a wider rear axle.
B's are one row and C's are two rows.
Look at photos in the Tractor Gallery (at left) for examples of each tractor.
