The D17 winter project is ready. Thanks for all who provided input on alternator wiring, oil pressure issues after an engine rebuild, etc.... I have included a couple of pictures of the finished product.

great i was just looking thu the tisco kits trying to decide if i should attempt to overhaul my 58 d17 or have it done. right now i dont have a proper place to do it .i've thought about having a local mechanic do it.i want to do it right. it
s fouling on at least one cylinder.from what i can see , the proper kits with bearings, head kit with valves, clips, etc will cost around a grand. am i correct in assuming this. about how long does it take to do an overhaul? thanks in advance

The D-17 is a 1958 model that belonged to a Landlord. It hadn't run for the last few years, (the engine was stuck). Then the fun began. Engine rebuild, alternator conversion, intake/exhaust manifold, radiator rebuild, carburator rebuild, new tires, one rim, 3 quarts of Persian Orange #1 and a decal set (not to mention many hours of enjoyable work in the shop when time allowed). I plan to use it around the farm for a few small jobs and possibly put it in a parade or two. I have Green equipment on the farm but have always liked the Allis Tractors.
