Which hole do you look thru to view the mark on the flywheel? There is a hole in the bottom of the bell housing ( Is that just a drain Hole) and a hole on the right hand side as if you were setting on the tractor. The flywheel has a (TDC) Top Dead Center mark and a 25 degree mark before TDC. Which mark do I use?

Get the flywheel tdc mark at 12 o'clock position, then check the crank pulley at the same position mark should be there, unless some serious part swapping has taken place before your time!

You can use the right side hole, but if you look in front of the motor you should see a pointer on the crank pulley. It's marked with degrees btdc.

I see the pointer on the front but no markings on the crank shaft pully? I have the motor out of the tractor and will use the flywheel to time it. I made sure that the cam and the crankshaft marks are in line. There by setting the pistons and valves in time.
