Does anyone have any information regarding pressed steel rear ends that were installed on the WC tractor? Any information would be greatly appriciated.

The pressed steel differential housings were used during WWII when cast iron was directed to the war effort. I have heard that WC tractor pullers like the pressed steel housing because of a weight advantage and I have also heard that the steel and cast housings weigh almost the same. I have a spare steel housing but haven't weighed it in comparison to the cast housing.

WC's with the pressed steel rear ends are about 400 pounds lighter than the tractors with the cast iron rear end.

My cousin has two WC's with pressed steel, one is a '45 model and the other is a '47 model. The '47 doesn't abide by the WWII years. Could this be an overrun? How rare are pressed steel differential housings?
