Sounds like the power director is a little different than the ones one the like 7060 or something like that...tractors with little cabs. Not real famialar with pumpkins I guess...it had buttons you pushed on the floor. Sounds like like this power director would be a lot handier than those. Do they have a hand crank or not? There is a hole in the tool box and a place in the grill, but its not stamped out. I think Im going up there and pull it around with the pickup or a battery to see if motor is stuck. One thing whcih bugs me and I forgot about last nite is the pto turns verry, verry easily. Like my 5088 does but it runs hydrolicly...how do these work. Does that point towards any trany info? I could spin it very easily with my fingers!

Thanks for the help...I kinda know IH, but we just have a WD-45 for Allis.

You will like the power director. It's bullet proof in either the 7060 or the D17. The D17 PD is mechanical while the 7060 is hydraulic.

The hole in the tool box is for a grease gun and allows the tip to stick out. The PTO engagement lever is on the left side of the torque tube next to the foot clutch pedal. It's a sliding splined coupler engagement system. The PTO has to be stopped or barely turning to engage it or you'll wear down the splines inside over time.

The Power Director on a D17 is great in that it's metal clutch discs that run in an oil bath than can be slipped quite a bit without damage, unlike say an IH TA.

Cranks were never supplied with the D17. Check the pulley for the "catches", you might be able to find something that would work. The 12v starting system worked so well, there was never any need for one.

They are gear driven. If not engaged, they turn easy. If engaged and the foot clutch is out, you need to turn over the engine to move it.
