It's got a D-17 motor in it.Pulled it hard this afternoon and got alot of water in the oil, cylinders, you get the picture.Pulled the head thinking it was the head gasket.Block cracked in between liners but not sure if that's the cause.Head gasket cracked same as block on block side not head side.No real burns across gasket.Number two hole is the worsed one.Number three has some.Could the liners be moving that much because the head gasket shows wear around the liner ring.Any thoughts welcome, was planing on pulling this weekend.Oooohhhhh hh well.

look at the water hole close to the pushrod gallys also the head water holes into the exhaust ports . if you pulled her hard and it snuffed out it probably rolled backwards and when that happens its at the cost of a head gasket. you can belzona those cracks and you want have to worry with them anymore. belzona supermetal 111 products name its impressive stuff.

Welcome to the world of AC's. You will find that most of them are cracked between the cylinders. I think they had a lot of low quality cast iron being used when they were cast.

Cracks in the block between 1&2, 2&3, and 3&4 are very common as the head gasket seals the cylinder from the water jacket. If you are seeing anything odd about the head gasket, you may have a bad head gasket. Use a very good straight edge and check the planarity of the head and the block. I believe the block is supposed to be flat. There is also a slight crown to the head ~ 0.005. Anyway it is hard to measure without a dial indicator on a milling machine. If you can see out of flatness, it probably needs attention.

Could be a new head gasket will solve your problem.

Common to have cracks between the sleeves. Now if the haed gasket shows signs of the sleeve wear you may have bad sleeve seals and that would let the sleeves move some and that could be where your problem is. I would pull the pan off and then carefully fill the coolant part of the block with water and watch to see if you get any water from the sleeve seals if you do then you will need to pull the sleeves and replace the seals.

Does a D 17 have casting plugs in the top of the head, under the rocker arm? If it does (like a C, B, or CA) I'd check those for rust holes.
