i bought a new carb for my model c it almost started last night i went back at it this morning and the garge floor was coverd in gas anybody know what the problem might be

Needle in the float valve is not sealing. I would bet that is has a needle with a soft tip. some times they are just a scrap tip that should never been used in the manufacturing of the needles. When they first come out with them I had a better that 50% leaks with the soft tips. when rebuilding them my self I just cleaned up the old needle and put it in. If when replacing the rebuilt carburetor you didnt clean the tank, sediment bowl and screen, or the gas line you could have put some grit that would hold any needle open enough to seep/leak.

thanks the advise dick l the sedament bowl had alot of crud in it iam taking the carb apart to clean it out
