I just purchased an AC 3 bottom snap coupler plow for my D17. One of the "Fins" is missing from one of the bottoms and I need a part. Can anyone tell me how to find the model# on this plow? Please advise. Thanks.

Are you asking about a slat plow?

Yes. The bottoms have metals slats, rather than solid bottoms.

Most likely it is a 53, 63 or 73. The differences are difficult to explain.

The question is what is a "fin"? Do you mean a moldboard? Or, are you looking for the tail extention that bolts to the back of the moldboard? There are lots of those plows out there and finding parts shouldn't be too difficult.

The bottoms on the plow have metal slats or blades, rather than one solid piece of metal.

It is not the same, but it is slatted like the picture. Mine is an AC with 3 bottoms. If I get a Chance, I will take a picture of it. Thanks.

Jon, did you find this picture in the Implement Photos section? There are three in a row, if you search under Allis Chalmers.
Is this your plow?

These might not be the best pictures but I'll try my hand at explaining. If you have a 3 bottom AC Snap Coupler fully mounted plow (not a pin hitch), it's going to be a model 53, 63, 73, or 83. Differences that are easy to spot:

53: Will have vertical beams holding the plow bottoms to the frame. Bottoms are more closely "coupled" front to rear.
63: Beams holding the bottoms are slanted forwad. Coulters are mounted to the frame at a slant.
73: Beams holding the bottoms are slanted forward and are longer than on a 63. Coulters are mounted to the frame vertically. Adjustment tower should also be different.
83: Like a 73 only they have spring trip bottoms instead of shear bolts.

Model 53:

Model 63:

Model 73: (this is my plow, I cut it down from 3 bottoms to 2)

Looking at your pictures, there is no doubt I have the model 73. It has the long adjusting rod on the top. Only difference I see are my bottoms are slatted. It you start at the front edge of the bottom, I am missing the two slats that are the farthest back, on one of the bottoms. Any idea where I can get two replacement slats for a model 73? Thanks!

Like I said hard to explain, but a picture is worth a thousand words in this case. Good job.
