For those of you who so kindly helped me with my mag problems a few days ago, thank you and your suggestions worked and I finally got fire. It started after being dead for over two years but when I went to take off it died. I went to start it again and it turned over a few times, felt a pop and the starter will not turn it over again. How do I take the starter off? And no, I have not bought the $30 IT manual yet and Tractor Supply still has them wrapped in plastic so I can't go to the store and look up my questions for free. Yes, I reached that emotional peak every tractor nut feels when he gets a recently purchased tractor started. Yes, I hit that emotional low when it would not turn over again.I can't go on living life this way.

Use the crank and turn the engine over just a bit to see if the starter is locked. If the ring gear is worn the drive can jam as it trys to engage.

It is a long shot but I have had that bolt them guys are talking about work loose and the starter would bind up.

AGR538, On my 1950 WD left side as you sit on the tractor, just in front of the starter, about an inch, is a bolt (about 5/8) with a bigger nut under it. After the obvious battery, wire stuff, Losen the nut and back off the bolt. The starter should fall right out.

First off check all battery cable connections one may have got dirty. To pull the starter look at that area and you will see a botl with a lock nut on it. Loosen the lock nut then take out that bolt, the end of the bolt is tappered once its out you should be able to twist/turn the start and slide it out. They can be fun some times because rust builds up and makes them hard to pull out
