Is the 2800 diesel wet or dry sleeved?

Thanks,

Allan

I have the 2900 engine in my 190 and I had the problem real bad with electrolisis. The block was pitted really bad and I got it fixed. I am rebuilding the entire engine and clutch anyways, I need to know if anyone knows of a good coolant that I can put back in the tractor, that will not get that charge in the system and start eating up my engine again. Napa sells some that is $16 a gallon, I would really like to find some cheaper stuff somewhere. Does anyone know where I can get some.
Thanks

Ford Power Strokes must have the additive put into the radiator every 15,000 miles or it will be eaten up between the 7th & 8th cylinders. I just bought a bottle a couple of days ago and it cost about $8.

Hi Allen,

2800 engine is wet sleeve, 2900 is same engine only turbo'ed with a few internal changes to stand the increased power output. If I remember correctly the 2900 also had an engine oil cooler built on.

Thanks Guy,

Do they give trouble like the IH engines with the o-rings or are they fairly stable?

Allan

Allen,

The 2800 didn't seem to have to many o-ring or sleeve problems. I have seen a lot of them exceed 12,000 hours as long as the coolant was kept fresh.

The 2900, on the other hand, had more problems with electrolysis, even though they share the same sleeves and o-rings.

Probably due to the increased power output and subsequent heat that was generated.

Paul
