What is procedure to check and repair brakes on an Allis Chalmers 1954 B model? I just bought one and do not have my manuals yet. Thanks for the information.

I Had to take the rails that hold the fenders and lift shaft off to get the bands up out of the axel housings. The anchor pins can be real stinkers if the tractor spent much time in the weather. If you can roll the bands out without distorting them much, they can be relined a lot cheaper than new bands.

Pretty straightforward job. You have to remove the seat frame, I think, to get the bands out. The hardest part of the job is getting the adjuster screw out and getting the pins that hold the bands to the housing out. They may be pretty well rusted in place. I have had good success with PB Blaster penetrant, but there are other good ones.
