Hey guys I hope someone can give me some idea of the worth of a D15 series 1. It has good tin and tires but hasn't been started for three years and sitting outside but covered up. I was told that the rear end needs bearings and the guy has all the bearings to put in. It is a wide front end and has the snap coupler hitch. I haven't looked at it for a couple of years so I don't know if it is stuck or not but I will be looking at it in a few days. This tractor belongs to my best friends dad and I know how much money he has in it so I don't want to cheat him or get cheated. He said that when he bought it it had been run without lube in the rear end. He says it needs bearings in the rear but he is not a mechanic and dad and I hope that maybe filling it up will take care of the problem. Thanks in advance.

I'll buy all you can find for $1000 - $1500.

Most D12 - D15's around here are selling in excess of $3500 no matter what the condition as long as they are complete.

Though prices do vary with location, D-15 tractors usually sell for $2500 to $3500 when purchased from a private party. The Blue Book says high trade-in is $1900 and high retail is $3780. In both cases, these figures reflect tractors that would be considerably better than average condition.

In your case the tractor is not in better than average condition - it isn't even in average condition and may be in poor or very poor condition. Regardless of how much the current owner has invested, the tractor is worth a certain amount of money. Even if he has $5000 invested, you are describing a tractor that is worth less than $1500. Bad rear end, engine stuck, poor tires would mean even less money than that - I'd guess $1000 to $1200.
