I have a 930 and 1030, both late model diesels. I'm trying to fix the guages because nothing works. I put new mechanical temp guages in both of them, and I figures it would be nice to have working tachometers too. Both tractors had the drive cables removed when I bought them, and both tach's are stuck, so I gave them to a friend that rebuilds tach's and speedo's from old cars, and he fixed them up nice. The problem now is the little drive "lug" that sits on top of the oil pump is broken. How does that adapter plug come out? Do I have to remove the oil pump and drive it out?

The Tach drive will pull out with the proper puller. A slide hammer works good. The problem is making an adapter to thread into the drive.

My son and I took the male end from an old tach cable, brazed on a 3/8 stud, screwed it into the tach drive in the block, put a large socket over the drive in the block with the stud sticking through the square drive hole of the socket, put on a washer and 3/8 nut, and turned. Out it comes.
