I just purchased a 49 Case LA. The guy was asking $1500, I offered him $1200 and he took it. The head was just rebuilt not to long ago and it has a new carb on it. Rear tires are 80% with very slight whether checking. The tractor runs and drives great, now for the bad - the radiator leaks and will not hold water ( may be repairable), rear rims are starting to rot at valve stem, missing hand crank for starting ( o.k. - electric start ) , hydralic rear brakes don't work, and rear fenders are a little banged up. Just wondering if I paid to much or if it was a fair price. Thank you for your replies.

I would say that's a pretty fair price you can't expect to get a perfect tractor for $1200. He could have got almost that much for junk price.
the main thing is are you happy with it if so the cost really doesn't matter does it. If you are a penny pinching mizer then you paid to much and will never be happy. Lets hope that you are are the happy peron with a new toy to play with.
The radiator can be recored for around $400 well worth the cost as you need to keep this one from getting hot and cracking the head.
I paid $1575 for mine its a 1945 and I put another $1500 into it to get it to run good. I still need to do a lot of body work and painting. I will have an easy $4000 in it when done. But I love it and that's all that counts. Its a fun tractor to play with and if you got the big bucks it can be made into one hell of a puller. Mine pulls fairly good with just the high compression head and a little tuning.
On e-bay you can find lots of parts for the LA I have a search that I get daily reports from and just recently a guy sold a lot of old parts for an LA. There may still be some online take a look.
I hope you enjoy this old tractor its a big brute and takes a real man to drive it. There are several LA owners on the forum so keep asking questions.

An LA Owner and proud of it.

OH! the fenders on every one I have seen are banked up at the bottom I just tore a piece of my right fender after fixing it up to pretty good shape. if you look at pics of those that are restoded you will notice the bottom of the fenders are are almost alway rinkled up.
