My dad has a 1939 case DC. He says there is a cup outfit under the brake housing cover that has grooves around it. He cannot locate a tool to remove this cup part, or does not know how to remove. Manuals don't help. Anyone got any ideas?????

dboll, no it's not the drum. It is a cup type outfit that is over the shaft. Dad says it has grooves around it.

Is there a phone I can call and have my dad talk with you and explain his situation?

Sounds like the 41 or newer brake, they had a plug pressed into the pinion shaft, 39 and 40 had a shaft with a castle nut on the end. 39/40 were band brakes , 41 and newer were disk brakes. 507-368-9497 9 to 10;30PM

dboll, I'm unable to reach you by phone. We have learned from your last reply that the tractor is actually a 1950 and not a 1939 as thought.

Removing brake parts down to the lined plate the cup outfit is seen in the center of and holding the lined plate in place. How is that cup and lined plate removed? Two manuals purchased say to remove those parts but do not say how or what tool to use.

Jim, I tried returning your call last night, line was busy, I can call tonight. I am on central time. I have taken these out using a small sharp chisel to start them then using a roll/pry bar to work them out, being careful not to distirt as they have to be reused.
