I rebuilt the carburetor on a 1954 SC.Now it will only run with the choke closed. What did I do wrong? Thank-you

Do you think you could have gotten the float set too low and the carb bowl is not filling up far enough and the tractor is starving for fuel? As mentioned below, it could be dirt. I like installing a plastic in-line filter to keep any dirt out. NAPA carries fuel filters that will sork. They also have plastic ball shut off valves that can be put just upstream of the filter.

Is the gasket between the carb & manifold good? A leak here or between the manifold & head will give it too much air & require the choke to have to be pulled to make it run right. Spray some WD-40 around these areas while its idling (w/choke off as much as possible) & see what happens. If it starts to run right, you have an air leak. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
