Doug we have salvaged a bunch of 400s thru the years and have only seen one that had it. I wonder if it wasnt put on it from a 800. I know some guys who have done that and liked it very well. Now as far as i can tell 800s had all 3 types on them. If you look in Full Steam Ahead on page 251 they show a row of 500 engines on the test stands. Now look at the one that you can see the pump on. I might need glasses but sure looks like a in line American Bosch to me. I have always been told they were all equiped with the rotary pumps. That sure proves otherwise to me. Thad

Hi dBoll,
I noted with interest your query re your 1957 "400" tractor being equipted with an inline American Bosch fuel pump. I have read somewhere that all of the home tractors during that time were supplied with the rotary fuel pump, while all tractors for export then were all supplied with the in line American Bosch pumps.
All of the"400" diesel tractors sold here in New Zealand, were fitted with the in line fuel pumps.
I would guess that your teactor was originally built for export but it never for some reason left the United States.
I have a "400" diesel, Serial No 8104347 and also a "930" Western Serial No 8165387, and I did own up until 4 years ago an eight speed "1200" traction King Serial No 9808137.
