To check suction screen drain trans oil and remove the shifter cover on the right side of trans case. And take a light and you can see the screen ( it looks like a icecream cone)it may have some black flakey material, which can come from the PTO clutch facings and the brake disk facings. You can clean this screen without splitting the tractor which is the only way to remove it. Buy anyway if you remove the whole PTO assmy. and jack the front of the tractor up a foot or so, Then take a garden sprayer with diesel and a long blowgun on a air hose( We use a blowgun with a copper pipe on it so you can bend it around so you can clean the back side) and start washing and blowing towards the rear of the tractor until it runs out the back. And find where the stuff come from and repair. Then you can get it where you can use the tractor without any trouble.Even though you can't get it all out.

I have the same problem.. What type of garden sprayer do you use for this? Do you mean those pump up types? Like is this a two stage operation, first the diesel under low pressure, then the air hose to blow it out? I had to get a tractor split once for this same problem. If your method works you will be saving me a bundle of money. Thanks in advance.

Yes a pump up sprayer. Cut the air pressure down to about 50-60, I work at a CaseIH dealer and we do this all the time,I would NOT use a pressure washer ever, Because that screen is made of Plastic screen which is pretty tough But a old one Maybe easily damaged and then you have to split. Overhauled a PS in a 2394 last year cause someone just tore holes in the screen, it worked awhile until junk plugged the lube passages in C-5,C-6 (24sp.) and burned them out

I checked this tractor again after it had set for 3 hours. It has different symptoms. When I start it the engine starts to pull down under very heavy load, with clutch pressed down. Checked with a mechanic who said something has happened inside to make it act like more than one gear is engaged at once. I'll try it once more after it cools more overnight.

C1 or C3 pilot spool is sticking. If C2 were sticking the motor wouldn"t stall with clutch up or down.

When the cluch pedal is down the only clucth engaged is C-4 and usually if another is dragging it's C-2 because it's in modulation mode. the C-2 shuttle spool could be sticking See my latest post on a 2290 Stalling, sounds like yours in partly hanging up. But a warped clutch will act that way also, try the easy fix first though.

We use a power washer with hot, soapy water. No joke. I"m not sure, but you might get to the inside of the screen somewhat by dropping charge pump out. (using sediment bowl for shot glass tonight)
