Lil help please. Have a powershift 1070 that grinds the gears for about 5 seconds or more before you can get into any of the 4 range gears. We can rule out the valve body for the most part since I just had it apart and all the spools are free and I didn't see any apparent damage to anything. A side note, the powershift sometimes slips going into 3rd, can only feel it in 4th gear. So I am thinking something is leaking inside but the big question is WHAT? Thanks for any help.

forgot to mention.... in reply to Joe-Bob/IN, 09-13-2006 18:25:24
Forgot to say that it will go in almost normal if the tractor is just rolling backward. And if on flat concrete when you do get it into gear it just starts to move backward and acts like it has some pressure to go backwards but will release when you take it out of gear, all while the inching pedal is depressed.

Try to idle when you shift an when you push in clutch an hear engine labor -that is time to rapidly put in gear as as powershift is changing from forward to reverse.AS for shift slipping when shifting to 3rd powershift your torque linmiter on flywheel might be beginning to slip.

Our experience is that to get the gears to stop grinding is to rev the engine up some.

Does the engine pull down when you engage the clutch? Our 970 grinds gears when the trans. oil pressure isn't up and we try to engage the clutch.
