What's the drawbar/pto horsepower of a '54 VAC? What does it weigh?

Glenn

Glenn, Corrected or calculated horse power is a horse power which represented the maximum observed horse power corrected to standard atmospheric conditions. A standard Condition is 59.6 degrees F, if memory serves me well, and a pressure of 29.92 inches. This was used up until test 683. Roger

Glenn, I don't think there was any horse power change from '49 to '54 as the engine RPM stayed the same and piston part number and crankshaft part number is the same (same cubic inches) according to my parts book and operators manual. The only difference according to the parts book is the tractor could have a Marvel Schebler or one of two different Zenith Carbs. The MS carb was a TSX 114 and the Zenith was a 161JX7 lised under two different part numbers. The only other thing I found is a CHP (corrected horse power) of 19.9 drawbar and 22.3 belt hp. This of course would apply to all of the tractors. Roger

Glen, Nebraska test #431, run in October of 1949 of the VAC on gas, shows a maximum belt hp of 20.06 and a rated drawbar hp of 15 but in first gear a max pull of 2,768 at 2.06 mph. The bare tractor weight was 3199. Roger

Did the horsepower increase by '54?

Glenn
