I just picked up a 1958 Case 800 diesel tractor from a cousin in Wyoming. It had sat for about 16-18 months. I live about 350 miles away and went to see it one weekend and it had dead batteries. So I never heard it run. My cousin promised me that it ran well and that the only reason it had been parked was because his father had passed away and they used bigger tractors to farm and load with. The following weekend my wife, kids and I went back to pick it up. I had purchased two new batteries. I started to check fuel lines and fliters and none of them were worth a darn. I pushed the tractor on my trailer with the use of a 580 Case CK along with an excellant set of duals for the rear. This tractor has a Farmhand 11 loader. Since I have been home from getting the tractor I have been trying to get it to run. This is where I need your help.
There is three fuel filters. The primary, the secondary and then the final. Out of the final filter it goes directly to the fuel pump. I cracked the fuel injector to see if any fuel is making it up to that point. This is where my problem is at. Can any of you out there please send all of the information that you can. The more, the better.
Thank You in advance
and Happy Holidays

Just to clarify a bit only take one alen bolt from the back of the pump to replace the one you took out of the slide. Agian if you have a bosch pump this may be the problem. We have had two of our 930s do this. Easy fix.

If it has the same pump as our 930s there should be a round cap at the front of the pump ( toward the front end) . If you take a 3/4 wrench you should be able to take this cap off. Inside there is a slide rail that should be free and loose. If it is not loose and stuck inside the pump is stuck on the shut off position. Take the alen wrench bolt out carefull not to lose the little washers. In the back of the pump take out the same size only longer alen wrench bolts and screw it in place of the one you just took out of the end of the slide. This will give you leverage. With some type of lubricant slide it back and forth until free. Leave it halfway out and start the tractor.

A 1958 Case 800 has a American Bosch PSB Injection Pump.
Bleed the system as follows;
1. Refer to figure
2. Fill main tank & open tank shut-off valve
3. Open first stage Bleed Valve and retain in open position till fuel is clear & no Bubbles appear, then close the valve.
4. Open Valve in bleeder By-pass line
5. Open second Stage By pass Valve

6. Close the 2nd stage Valve when clear fuel appears.
7. Open final stage By-pass Valve when fuel is clear –close valve.
8. Close Valve in Bleeder line – line 4 above
9. Start Engine

In addition to the bleeding procedure, you"ll want to clean the primary filter, which is a very fine mesh. I recommend a mix of acetone and alcohol to get the gum out. I"ve had a lot of trouble with this particular filter clogging and completely shutting down the system. You might also check to see how much junk is in the tank, you may need to pull and clean it also. The other two filters are on the pressure side and cause a lot less trouble. The primary is usually the one that will shut you down. Be sure to follow the bleeding procedure that Jim was kind enough to post.

Keep us posted,

Larry

If it is a bosch inline pump YOU NEED TO OPEN SCREW ON FIRST FILTER ON TOP .WHEN FUEL COMES OUT TIGHTEN SCREW than open screw on secondary an also if there is a t handle on top of filter turn itopen so fuel can flow an fill secondary filter than open bleed valve on top filter an wait till fuel appears- than tighten bleed valve an also t- handle that i spoke of earlier. You will need tank full enough or higher than final filter . Point is you need to get air out an fuelin pump. Loosening a injector line as you said is also helpful butkeep fingers away from spray that might be there. Should start
