I have this Case tractor I'm trying to get ready for paint. The radiator seems to be seeping antifreeze out the bottom gasket. I never cared for putting monkey sh-- into the tank as I'd rather cure the disease than doctor the symptoms. Anybody ever have one of these hefty cast iron radiators apart before to replace gaskets? What kind of trouble am I going to get into if I attempt to tear it down?

As far as I know the radiator is similar to the LA and other Case tractors of the 1940-50s.

It is easy to remove the radiator from the tractor and unbolt the top and bottom tanks, although you need some help lifting the radiator (it is HEAVY).

If it is just the bottom gasket that is a problem, it is easy to make one. While you are about it, you should clean out the radiator tubes. I use a brass (gas) welding rod for the job.

It should not be too much of a problem. The tanks are bolted to the core. The bottom one is easier to get apart than the top as it has nuts on all boolts and the top has a bunch of bolts that screw into the casting; you are likely to twist a couple of them off and they are hard to drill out as you dare not drill into the tank itself.
