What is the difference between the 1179 and the 1175? The only thing I have been able to find is that the 1175 had a category 2 three point and heavier draft arms.

Both tractors used 8 sp tranny's and outboard planetaries. 1170 had cast nose and the 75 used fiberglass, rear wheels were lighter on a 75, and the planetaries looked smaller. Not sure if the front axles were the same.1175 was a lighter tractor, pounds = dollars, so it was priced less than the 1170.

1170's &1175's came with the eight speed option only. They had a 451 turbo engine. The 1090 had the power shift transmission, a 451 non-turbo with the heavy front axle, heavy 3pt and heavy drawbar like the 11's. Same rear frame as a 1070 in the 1090, no outboard planetaries.

Thanks guys. I'm glad you "took a Dutchman for what he means" when I posted 1179 instead of 1170. Thanks again.

Tom,
The 1175 is 8 speed only with outboard planetaries. It has the reputation of being a rugged, trouble free tractor. The 1170 has the reputation of being a very unreliable tractor (which may have hurt 1175 sales). It's too bad as Case needed all the tractor sales it could get. Don

The main difference's i have noticed are the 1170 has the same front axel as the 1270s and such. They also have different brakes heavy drawbar like the 1270 and such. The lift arms i cant remember if they were the heavy ones or not. The crank in the motor is diffrent also. It looks just like one from a large journal 504 motor. That has had the rod and mains turned down to the smaller size. There are probubly some other things i just cant remember them. Thad

Yes, the 1175 was only available with the 8 speed tranny while the 1170 had the 12 sp powershift as an option.I beleieve the 1170 was only available for a couple years before being replaced by the 1175.

1175 has outboard planetaries and i do not believe they use the power shift i could be wrong. all the ones ive seen have had 8spd(4 w/ hi lo). from what im told the 75 trans is bullet proof. I prefer powershift for loader work.
