I putting back together my dads 1170 engine. I had someone shortblock the engine for me. I am having troubles with the crankshaft pully to the timing pointer. I am working on putting on the fuel pump. I have to have that right first. I have a 1170 Case service manual. It reads crank engine ccw ti 35 degree mark then, crank engine cw to specified fuel pump timing. Note, Refer to engine data decal on engine valve cover for fuel pump timing. I have no decal. Can anyone tell me what I need to time it to? Thank you and have a great day. Perry

1170 timing is 30 degrees before top dead center line up pointer with this then line up injection pump marks make sure it is on top dead center on # 1 to check for this make sure both pushrods are loose on # 1 if one is tight turn engine over one revolution they should be loose then if valves are set right Tom

There are timing marks under the big hex plug to the front side of the pump, on the pump gear and the driver, these need to line up,the pump mounts are slotted to get it exact.
