I have driven by this Case on land 6-18 about a thousand times so after the Northland Case meeting I finally stopped by and bought it for $400.00. With 18.4x42 radials and duals do I have a hope of puling it in silty clay loam? I used to pull an Oliver 5-18 furrow plow 8 to 10 inches 3.5 to 4mph with a 1955 Oliver with 120hp. I know a guy that used to pull 7-18 with a 1570 with triples. PS- don't tell me how I couldn't pull it in your "HEAVY" soil as I am not plowing for you!

Thanks guys for the positive replies. I once ran a turbo'd 5020JD with a 6-16 OL in 3rd and 4th, I thought it was a dog! As for Bradley martin I an still trying to figure out what the hell he is getting at. My question regarded pulling a 6-18 with a 1570 Case in ground that 100hp on 4-16 is required.

I think you are underestimating the Case tractors! That baby is 180 horse or more. I have a 2390 which was 160 horse and it loved our 6x18 onland whether it was sand or gumbo. I just installed a new Schwitzer turbo which puts out a few extra pounds of boost and she really sings now. Neighbor had a 2590 which is pretty much identical to a 1570, both 180 horse and it would pull 7x18's without blinking. I have noticed that the tractors seem to work better if ran at about 1800-1900 rpms as opposed to wide open, just my experience. And like mentioned earlier you may have to add cast weight (don't add fluid to radials!) 'cause you will lose traction before power. Have fun.

Well, Jeff, I was just responding to your remark that you did NOT want any replies stating that you would never pull it in your tight soil because it was going to be your soil you were plowing. Sorry if I offended you.

i have a 1570 and it handles a 6-18 in our tight soil in Maryland with no trouble. It doesn't even get warm!

It should handle it pretty well. May need to add some rear weight if you don't have much now. I pull 4-18 semi mount case plow with a 930 at 10 inches deep. It can usually run about 4-5 mph and has power to spare. Im in some pretty heavy ground most of the time.

1570 should walk with 6-18's, most had 1370's on them here.

Hook her up and go plowing. A 18" plow is designed to plow 9 to 10 inches deep. 1570 running good will handle it good if plow is set correctly.
