If I push down the LH brake it goes way down, if I release it and push it again then it is firm. I don't have alot of experience past the power shift so any help is appreciated.

Run engine at around 1000rpm, open bleeder valve on brake and let fluid out untill all air is out, till you get a good flow of fluid only. This should fix your problem.

Your brakes need adjusted.

aren't they self adjusting? the air scenario might make sense as it set for 2 or 3 years before I bought it and overhauled the engine.

I do not know about your particular model, but from many years of mechanic work, I have found adjustment to correct the problem. I would suggest the folling test: Press the pedal, release, press several more times until the pedal will not build any more. Wait several minutes. Then press the pedal, release, wait about two minutes and press again. If adjustment is needed, the pedal will go all the way down as it did the first time. What happens is that the shoes or disc go out a certain amount of travel the first press and they don't have time to return-thus each additional press builds the travel. I hope this is clear enough and as I stated this may not work with your machine. Check and see if they can be adjusted. This is the most simple solution.
