I was wondering if a case 970 would pull a 6, or 7 bottom,?
Or 12 ft offset disc, maybe too much for it?
I dontknow?
I know my 2670 will pull that case made 9 bottom offset plow,
and a 24 ft offset disc, that i do know,

Well here we go again on this plow size thing ! I have seen an 830 pull 5-16 and now there is one down the rd struggling to pull 3-16 and then I recall the 930 in our area pulling 6-16 just a flyin but so was a 4020 and now a 4020 pulls 4, I think us and the tractors are getting too OLD to work that hard...pull 5 save the beast or SLOW down and pull 6 ...better for the plow , we used to plow 3-4 mph now we want to go 6-7 and buy parts ..my 3 cents worth

We used to pull IH 550 5-16 comfortably with our 970, the neighbor used a 1070 on IH 720 5-16, other neighbor pulled Case 4-16 on 970 his soil was more of a clay loam. That 6-7 bottom would be better on 13/1570 or 23/2590. Our 970 pulled a IH 470 18ft wing fold tandem disc, tried our IH 490 21ft once to disk down wheat stubble, it did the job but worked the tractor. Those were the days when the 970 was the biggest tractor we had.

I would think it would pull 6 in easy soil but 7 would be pushing it. It takes from 15-30 horse per bottom depending on width and soil. Now for the disk, is it an offset or a tendem? Never seen a 24' offset. Never pulled an offset but I do know they pull very hard and usually see about 15' behind 200+ horse tractors. If it is a tandem you could easily pull a 12'. We have pulled a 20' tandem with a 1070 with relative ease.

Depends on whether you are serious about tearing up hard spots or whether you want bragging rights at the local liers club. If you have tough ground, substract two bottoms from the factory rating. A smaller plow allows the options of going faster in loose ground and also being able to plow hard ground. My 1170 pulled 6 bottoms for its first owner but I use a 4 bottom and can plow hard clay about 12" deep. No Bull!!! This 4 bottom is too much for my 4010. Its the big, heavy equipment that is making the ground hard.

Don't know much about Case but the Allis early D21 with 103 hp was advertised pulling a 7 bottom but todays ground is much harder due to chemical use.
