I was wondering if I could put a turbo on a case 1070 with the 451BD?

What parts would I need off of a 451BDT to make this work? I assume: turbo, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold....what else?

If you are only wanting to add 15 horse I would think you could just turn the pump up some.

EDIT - I know that once I put on a turbo I will need to turn up the fuel as well....otherwise the turbo isn't doing anything...

Mostly correct you are and the smoke screw is probably under a sealed cap or a bolt that is somehow sealed to let Case know if it has been tampered with. Seems like it is on the back (towards the cab) of the pump. I know there is also a surge screw located there so I would have to look at one of ours and in a manual.

i took mine off my 970 i run it a couple years on hay equipt. no problems but when i put the plow on could'nt keep the pyrometer cool enough an scored pistons {no piston coolers an quality of pistons} but the rest of tractor no problems i feel like if you are trying to get 15 to 20 more hp shouldn't have any problems remember if your engine is wore out this will multiply your trouble.

The tractor is getting a full rebuild this spring (9000 hours) I was thinking that adding a turbo would help me get closer to the power output of a 1270...

On that note - should I order the BDT kit to get the turbo pistons? Are they coated differently than the BD pistons?

i think sometimes you need to put a different/ heavier rear-end in but i think you will be fine with that. all depends how much HP the tractor puts out. just my 2 cents
