I was wondering if a 1070 crank is counter-balanced?

Although I've never needed to repair (look at) the bottom end of our 930 I reviewed my service manual and the pictorial does not show any counter weights on the crankshaft. I can confirm that the 504 6-cyl diesel used for the bigger tractors also does not have counter weights. I have rebuilt (seen) the lower end of our 2470.

It is my understanding that straight 6-cylinder 4-cycle engines are naturally balanced so counter weights or counter balance mechanism are unnecessary.

Only the 4 cyl. diesel engines have the counter balance system that hangs under the crankshaft. The only balancer on the 1070 (451 engine) would be the vibration dampner on the front of the crankshaft.

I guess what I ment to say does the crank have counter weights on it. I know that the 9-1030 styles do not.

thanks
