I was moving some dirt around with the Uniloader and noticed it barely went forward on the right side. a left hand turn was all the left wheels backing, and the right wheels maybe creeping forward.

So I pulled the side cover and tried to tighten the clutch pack, but it"s basically done. Where do I go for a new set of springs and discs, and how much am I out?

Thanks
Steve

I have a skid steer that is very similar to a CASE 1737. I'm not sure what make it is. I've replaced the friction disks in the clutch packs, but I can't get the cover plate back on. I've tried every trick I can think of, but I can't get the shafts to line up with the cover plate holes. Is there a trick to this that I'm missing? I have the three ball clutch pack. I bought new friction disks from TBWoods...very expensive. Just 4 friction disks and plates were $250. Six sets are needed to do all 4 clutch packs. That's $1500 in clutch parts alone!

So is this TB Woods the industrial supplier, or a guy selling stuff online?

I couldn't find anyone selling the discs online. I bought them from Kaman Industrial Technologies. They have regional offices. I don't think that TB Wood's sells directly to the public, so I ordered from Kaman, and TB Woods shipped it directly to my house. I don't know if CASE uses the same clutches. I can't identify my machine, but it looks almost exactly like a CASE. The clutches it uses are a TB Wood's Roto-Cam Clutch, C4 series. The clutch itself is a piece of cake to rebuild, but I still haven't been able to get the shafts through the side metal plate. I did it once a few weeks ago. Somehow I got lucky. I used some thick string to pull the shafts up to align them. There has to be an easier way.

Then maybe it's time for a second opinion. When I opened up the side and did a little testing, I noticed that the reverse clutch compressed about 1/4 inch, and was noticeable on the control handle. It seemed like the handle rested almost all the way forward, and the forward (direction) clutch barely compressed at all.

Is it possible that I just have a linkage problem?

Thanks again
Steve

More than likely Re: Clutch packs - uniloader 1737 in reply to MI-Case, 04-23-2007 03:51:40
More than likely the packs are wore out! But you can try to adjust, the all four have to be done at the same time to keep the handles even. NOTE: there are 2 types of discs and clutches for the same loader one has 3 balls one has 4 ball the discs are not the same. 3 balls are a later clutch. Got a parts book? if not get one. About $150 from case! Used book better price but hard if not imposable to find. Those clutches can be a real headache when worn out! There is NOTHING that can be done to fix them.

 A Bunch!! Re: Clutch packs - uniloader 1737 in reply to MI-Case, 04-22-2007 15:43:37
Had the same machine Case has the parts NEW in 1999 cost me near $1400 for discs and rotors both are needed to renew. Springs are no problem but watch the balls so they dont drop into the gear case! Have fun the clutches on these are a constant problem. But I really like the machine much better than ANY other Skid Steer.
