MY 1030 that i have has issues with the PTO not shutting off unless the lever is all the way down and using hydralics CONSTANTLY. Also the hydralics will not hold pressure very well when running. i'm useing it to haul manure with a hydralic push spreader that has an endgate. if i raise the end gate and let go of the leaver the gate settles right away. I added hydralic fluid but did i not add enough? Is it expensiveto fix the PTO problem? Do I have to tear the whole thing apart to fix the PTO or should i try adjusting the linkage? T.I.A

I have an 830, PTO has a brake adjustment.
Remove cover on RH trans., loosen lock nut and turn in stove bolt.
The PTO clutch is also adjustable however, i could not see quite how that worked.

Hey Dairy Farmer,
What part of the state do you squeeze your cows in?

The hydraulics and the PTO clutch are not connected in any way. It sounds to me that your brake pad on the PTO is warn down, and will not stop the PTO when it is cold. This is quite common. The rear end cover that includes the hydraulic pump, PTO, and drawbar support must be removed to get at the clutch pack. Check on parts before you pull it appart. If the hyd. slop gate on your spreader does not settle on a different tractor the problem is the check valves in the remote valve. Try switching your hoses around, and changing to the other valve. This will isolate which check ball is bad. Seats and balls were all available when I had to put them in my 970 about 10 years ago. Now ? Good luck DK

i switched the hoses to the other set of hyds and it did the same and the gate never stettles on anything other then my 970 but it is REALLY slow on that and would take like 2 days for it to settle all the way down on that. thanks
