So I took the whole mess apart, and it's clear someone has been there a couple times before. There are at least 3 different vintages of friction discs, and a variety of levels of wear on the steels. That said, most of the friction discs still had some surface left. I'm reassembling, and trying to figure out how the sprigs go - there's a spceific diagram in the manual, but it's just not clicking for me. The Bellville spring is like a big washer or machine bushing, but slightly concave. My question is how they go back together - saucer like (concaves in the same direction) - clamshell ( conccaves pointing together, and the steels riding on the inner part of the spring) or yoyo (concaves out on both sides, steels riding large part of spring, the centers of the adjacent springs in contact). Any assistance anyone might be able to render woudl be much appreciated. Thanks. Steve
